Visio is software that you can install on your desktop from Microsoft that allows you to create a broad range of diagrams.
You can create flowcharts, network diagrams, office layouts and more using the standard Office programs interface you are probably already familiar with. It is easy to create visual representation of information to make them easier to understand and more engaging.
Visio supports advanced features like the ability to link elements in the diagrams to external resources such as web sites or files. If you have Office 365 you can publish Visio diagrams to allow them to be displayed and manipulated without the need for Visio on the desktop using Visio services that comes with advanced versions of SharePoint 2013.
