Microsoft has just announced the availability of OneDrive for Business in a recent blog post:
They also announced the availability of the OneDrive for Business client applications for all platforms. If you have been using SkyDrive Pro then these apps will automatically update to OneDrive for Business.
One of the interesting thing contained in the blog post is that Microsoft will soon provide a OneDrive for Business stand alone storage plan. For $5 per month users will be able to store up to 25 GB of data in the cloud and synchronize it to their desktop. Additional storage can be purchased as well as having the ability to upgrade to additional Office 365 if desired.
The new stand alone storage plan appears to be clearly aimed at services like Dropbox by providing a secure, business grade storage option with the ability to upgrade to additional Office Office 365 services. That appears a very smart move by Microsoft because it is using the OneDrive for Business product as an entry option to the full Office 365 services.
The other thing that OneDrive for Business will bring is a simplified interface as shown above to help make it easier for user to work with cloud storage.
OneDrive for Business is a very positive move from Microsoft and is only the start of what they are planning to deliver. If you are using Office 365 and have not yet taken advantage of what OneDrive can offer then please contact us here at Correct so we can show you how to make the most of the product..
