Microsoft’s Productivity Future Vision

Now that Microsoft is modelling itself more as a productivity business it has produced a video that highlights what it believes will be the future of productivity. You can view the video at:

When you watch the video you see that Microsoft’s productivity vision is all about placing the information required right in front of your eyes, in a typical head-up display style. It is also evident that hands and fingers are thought to be the destiny for pointing devices, very much in the style of Minority Report. It is also interesting to see the ease that Microsoft sees information being transferred between devices, all with a simple swipe.

What the video also highlights is the interoperability of information seamlessly being pulled from multiple sources and all being presented in a single view that is easily manipulated. Much of the information being presented is done via ‘augmented reality’, basically layering digital information over the real world.

It truly is an amazing time to be alive and experience everything that technology can provide. Much of this has been made possible thanks to the ubiquity of the Internet, which makes sharing and access of information much easier. If you doubt what this video proposes, just pause for a moment and reflect on how far we have already come.

So what’s your productivity vision? How are you looking to take advantage of everything that your technology currently provides? Are you looking to get the maximum result from the investment you have made and importantly, where do you see your business in the next few years as technology continues to accelerate.
