There is little doubt that our poor Internet connectivity will hamper our ability to remain competitive in the new digital economy. Luckily, many businesses that are developing on the Internet are hosting their web servers outside Australia to overcome the limitations when serving the global market. However, that doesn’t alleviate the problem for the rest of us that choose to live here.
A much greater priority must be placed on the need to lift our broadband speeds and put us on par with our trading partners and others in the first world economy. If we don’t then we are certainly headed towards becoming a digital banana republic.
