DNSChanger Malware

Blog Author: Aaron Smith | June 23rd, 2012

Ever heard of something called DNSChanger Malware?  In very simple terms, it is a Trojan that redirects your web browser to pages that contain ads owned by hackers and stops users from visiting security websites and downloading program and operating system updates.

The FBI have resolved the source of the threat, but have been running “clean” servers to allow the many thousands of machines that remain infected by the Trojan to access the internet.

On 9 July 2012, the FBI intends to shut down those servers, which means any infected machines will lose Internet connectivity.  If you have any concerns about whether you are infected by Malware, or if your security is up to date, contact us to discuss further.
