A growing number of organisations are embracing the move to enterprise social networking inside their business. It is a very effective way to make information more visible and reduce email overload. The tool that permits this interaction within a business is Yammer which is included in all Microsoft Office 365 plans.
However, an annoying omission in the first version of Yammer was the ability to edit posts after the fact. Without that capability, the only real solution was to copy the original post, delete the original post and re-post it again with the required edits. Thankfully, Microsoft has now added the ability to edit Yammer posts. You’ll also notice that you can go back to any post you made in Yammer, no matter how old, and edit these as well. Microsoft certainly doesn’t do things by halves, does it?
If you haven’t explored the benefits that social networking can bring to a business, then you need to spend some time with Yammer. By introducing your team to Yammer you’ll be surprised at how quickly they adopt it and use it as a business tool. All you need to do is provide them with some guidelines as to what is appropriate business use and then stand back and watch the magic happen.
