  • Trend Micro Steps Up Protection

    18th November 2008;

    Trend Micro releases the latest version of their Worry-Free Business Security product version 5.1.

    Now it might seem like a small release, but this new version is significant in many ways to our customers.  Firstly the release fully supports and integrates the new version of Microsoft Small Business Server 2008, and the new Microsoft Essential Business Server 2008.

    Both of these products are available from now and we're proud to be able to provide a total solution to you using best of breed products.

    Other key improvements within the new Worry-Free business Security version 5.1 include:

     Enhancements to some of the core engines that allow Trend to better protect your network

     The Behaviour Monitoring engine, (which was created in v5.0) has had a rework of its design and now performs even more proficiently at detecting malware that many other Anti-Virus products will miss.
    The Behaviour Monitoring engine does this by monitoring the way in which programs run on your computer and prevents the program from modifying key system files, and other attributes that can be directly related to virus-like activity.

    This is one feature that few other malware solutions on the market have at this point and sets Trend Micro apart from the competitors.

    Additional things that have changed in version 5.1 relate to the reduced memory footprint of the engine itself.  Trend have worked hard and have reduced the memory used by version 5.1 to be around 40% of what it was in previous versions.  Essentially this translates to more efficient operation on older machines.
    Finally, Trend has their Smart Protection Network which is more than just the product you have on your desktop and servers. It's an overall monitoring system that now takes feedback directly from your system's Antivirus software. 

    This is aimed at improving their detection rates and helping to ensure that we remain Worry-Free in respect to virus infections.

    For those of you that have current maintenance on your Trend Micro Anti-Virus, the  software cost for this upgrade is included in that maintenance.

    Since this is a manual upgrade, setup can take between 1 - 3 hours depending on the current version of Trend Micro currently installed on your system*.

    We'll be contacting you over the next few weeks to discuss the remote upgrade to this latest version.

  • ConnectWise - Making things better!

    When we implemented our Practice Management System (ConnectWise), we knew that there would be long term benefits for Correct Solutions; making what we do and how we go about doing it more efficient and expected this would have a flow-on affect for our valued  customers.

    As promised, we are really starting to experience the positive effects of the ConnectWise system and are consequently able to pass these benefits on to you, our clients.  As of the start of October 2008, there will be changes to the way we invoice time on Service tickets.

    Historically Correct Solutions has billed time to clients in half hour increments.  While this has worked for many years, we are now able to decrease this to 15 minute increments without adding the overhead of large amounts of administration time.A letter was sent out to each of our customers with their statements last month; however we wanted to make sure that these changes were communicated properly so that you are aware of the benefits they will have.

    So, what do 15 minute increments  mean for you?

    For our smaller clients, this will represent a saving when calling us about minor issues, allowing them to call more often for the same amount they are being charged now.

    For our larger clients and those buying 100 hour blocks, this represents a significant saving as all times will be to the ¼ hour not to the ½ hour now.
